The Indian Premier League, a professional T20 Cricket League has progressed leaps and bounds ever since its inception in the year 2008. Now, the IPL has reached the Ninth Edition and is all set to start from 9th April with 8 teams. The interesting thing in this edition is the arrival of two new teams Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions. These two teams are replacing the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals. There are a lot of transfers during the auctions for this year. A total of 8 teams will be fighting for the championship and the prize money. A total of 60 matches will be played spanning over one and a half month.

So far, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders have won the championship twice each. It’s going to be an exciting tournament this year for most of the teams. Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians team will come as the Defending Champions into the tournament. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be Captaining the new franchise team Rising Pune Supergiants while Suresh Raina will Captain the Gujarat Lions. The Logos and the jerseys of the respective teams were also launched recently. Now the First match of the edition will be played between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 9th April @ 8.30 PM (IST).

Masters Champions League (MCL) 2016 Fixtures, Teams: Inaugural Match Kickstart on 28th January 2016

The Masters Champions League (MCL) is an upcoming T20 series which is being played in Karachi and Lords for over two weeks. The match features some of the greatest legends ever played the game of Cricket. The Cricket icons like Sourav Ganguly, Wasim Akram, Brian Lara, Virender Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist, etc. Zafar Shah, the Chairman of GM Sports has taken up the initiative and the MCL was launched in Dubai on 3rd June 2015. The MCL has got the official approval from the Emirates Cricket Board. The MCL has received a 10-year approval from the Emirates Cricket Board.

The company operates under the umbrella of the Grand Midwest Group and is a promoter of sports activities in the region. GM Sports will also allow legendary cricketers to assist former teammates and comrades who face financial distress in retirement. The MCL governing body includes 8 key peoples, Allan Border, Graham Gooch, Zafar Shah (Chairman), Abdul Rahman Falaknaz (President), Zarah Shah (CEO), Amin Farooq (Joint Secretary), Mohammed Raza Khan (Director), Ghazi Al Madani (Member).

MCL 2020 – Masters Champions League Teams

The tournament will have six teams in its first year with a total of 90 players taking part. Each team will have 15 members squad. The players who will play are now retired from all forms of the professional sport and should retire from all forms of International Cricket.  This series kicks off on 28th January and will end on 13th February 2016. The series has also been approved by the Emirates Cricket Board.

Now coming to the details of the tournament, the league will have six teams, Libra Legends, Gemini Arabians, Sagittarius Soldiers, Virgo Super Kings, Capricorn Commanders, Leo Lions. The owners of Libra Legends, Gemini Arabians, Sagittarius Soldiers, Virgo Super Kings, Capricorn Commanders, Leo Lions are Popcorn Sports and Entertainment Limited, Nalim Khaitan, Orange Limited, Rhiti Sports, Sohail Khan, Manyata Dutt respectively. In the First Season (2011) the four teams participating were – Chennai Rhinos, Telugu Warriors, Mumbai Heroes and Karnataka Bulldozers, the winners in the season were Chennai Rhinos and the runner up were Karnataka Bulldozers.

In the Second Season (2012) along with the existing four teams, two new teams were added – Kerala Strikers and Bengal Tigers, and again the Chennai Rhinos for the second time defeated Karnataka Bulldozers and became CCL 2 Champions.

In the Third Season (2013) two new teams were added Veer Marathiand Bhojpuri Dabbangsrepresenting Marathi Film Industry and Bhojpuri Film Industry respectively. The curtain Raiser event was a grand affair in Mumbai. In the third season Telugu Warriors were defeated by Karnataka Bulldozers and became CCL 3 Champions.

In the Fourth Season (2014) the expectations were high on all the teams compared to the previous seasons and the reach was bigger than earlier seasons as Colors TV has come in as a broadcast Partner for Mumbai Heroes to broadcast Mumbai Heroes game and Rishtey TV to broadcast all the games. Karnataka Bulldozers has won the CCL 4 by defeating Kerala Strikers.

In the Fifth Season(2015), CCL 5 has been the most successful season in terms of revenue and television viewership. As per TAM, CCL is ranked second in the list of most viewed sports league in the country as this time it reached all the viewers through Colors in most of the northern parts of India and Sun Network Channels in South India, this time it was Telugu Warriors who defeated the team which stood 2 times as champions Chennai Rhinos and won the trophy for the first time.

In Sixth Season (2016), a new team was introduced by replacing Veer Marathi, it’s the Punjab De Sherrepresenting Punjab Film Industry and Daler Mahendi, the Brand Ambassador of the team while SonuSood leading the team as Captain.
